ReignEntertainmentCo Celebrates with Sylvias Restaurant

Mamae

On Friday, July 31st, 2015 Sylvia’s Restaurant celebrated their 53rd Anniversary by providing free meals and music to the community as well as honoring Sylvia’s long time staff member, Ma Mae.

(REC) C.E.O. and Harlem native Robyn Willard, who is also the Great Grandchild of Cleo Wells – the historic owner of the Wells restaurant and pioneer of Chicken and Waffles; commissioned her Artist S. Whittaker to paint a special piece for retiring waitress Ma Mae. Ma Mae has given her services to Sylvia’s Restaurant for 40 years and has become a staple in Sylvia’s legacy. We wish all the best to Ma Mae and thank the Sylvia’s organization for all they continue to do for the Harlem community.

Thank You Amandla Stenberg for Speaking Up!

We are all entitled to voice our opinions and what tends to stand out the most is when a voice speaks up about important issues in our society. 16 year old Amandla Stenberg has been “trending” not only as a young American actress but an influential voice.

WHY ARE WE STILL FIGHTING OVER OUR RACE AND APPEARANCE?!

It is inspiring to see such a young person full of talent not have a care in the world about what other’s may think when it comes to addressing racial/social issues. There are many celebrities out there who are in the position to speak up, who are older and are capable of influencing masses but are afraid of losing something. Amandla Stenberg, we thank you for being bold, intelligent and caring to be a voice for people. You will continue to shine and grow into a wonderful woman who holds a leadership spirit. This is what stems from people who know who they are and where they come from. Hopefully, what you contribute will spread and inspire many to speak up for what is right regardless of where you come from.

Serena Williams – “SHEROE of Today”

serena artwork by Artist S. Whittaker R.E.C.

R.E.C. takes the time to congratulate Serena Williams for winning her first round match against Margarita Gasparyan of Russia during day one of the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on June 29, 2015 in London, England.

After winning her first round, Serena Williams shared her feelings about the Charleston massacre, calling the June 17 shooting of nine black worshipers by an alleged white supremacist “unspeakably sad,” and recalling how she refused to play in South Carolina while the Confederate flag flew above the state legislature.

In 2000, Williams pulled out of the Family Circle Cup in South Carolina in support of the NAACP’s call for a boycott over the Confederate flag flying above the state house dome.

The flag was eventually moved to a monument in the grounds later that year.

“I wouldn’t go to Charleston until the flag was removed. Once it was, I went there, and only after the Confederate flag was removed,” -Serena Williams

“What happened in Charleston is a tragedy yet again to our country, the United States. It’s really unspeakable how sad it is and how much of a toll it can have. – Serena Williams

“But you just have to continue to have faith, continue to believe, continue to be positive, continue to help people to the best of your ability.” -Serena Williams

Thank you Serena Williams for being an icon who stands for important issues like this. You are an inspiring leader and we hope that the trail of celebrities standing up for what is right will continue.

"Poetic Justice" Painting by Artist S. Whittaker R.E.C.

The 2015 BET Awards Show was dope this year! During the Janet Jackson tribute Robyn and Steph were surprised to see Music Artist “Tinashe” doing her thing while she was dishing those dance moves. In addition to the tribute was Ciara and Jason Derulo. They also did their thing! Janet looked fantastic for 50! She sure is rocking her age well and it’s good to see that she has received her tribute which she deserves. She is the Queen! She is in line with her late brother Michael Jackson and we are looking forward to your tour!

Le Petite – New York Fashion Week with a Twist!

REC BLOG show

#THEDWARFFASHIONSHOW

As 2015 NYFW hits full swing, we couldn’t help to highlight one particular runway fashion show stealing all the attention. It is none other than the 2015 Dwarf Fashion Show. The D.F.S., premiered some extraordinary outfits, from sequin dresses to an entire ensemble made up of $100.00 bills. Dwarf fashion models walked the runway to Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars – Uptown funk, while camera’s flashed creations designed by Creative Business House. The invite only event was covered by mainstream media to give the opportunity to little people to express themselves by bringing an innovative perspective to the fashion industry. The 2015 Dwarf Fashion Show was undeniably, way more high fashion than Kanye’s latest collection and definitely more entertaining.   R.E.C. Staff
